Did you notice that in the last post, so much of being a
leader in this industry is about giving?
It’s not about demanding. It’s not about ordering people
about. It’s not about setting tasks and plans and key-performance-indicators or
cajoling or being a Boss!
It’s about you, giving in order that they can believe that
the impossible can be made possible.
This is not a business in the traditional sense of being in
business. People do not work for you – you work with people. People do not do
as you tell them – you guide them and work with them. You don’t make them work
towards your vision - you find out what their dream is. You don’t pay them for
their effort – the company rewards you for yours.
Being a leader in a networking business is different because
you aren’t people’s manager. A manager does all the managery things – setting
KPIs and targets and performance managing and hiring and firing etc. etc. etc..
Try that in this business and see how far you get!
Often people who join a network marketing business see hope
for the very first time in their life. They see a way of breaking the 45 year
cycle of home-to-work-to-home-to-work five, even six, days a week. They see
that this may be one way they could have their own business and maybe, just
maybe, a lifestyle that is better than blood, sweat and tears.
Do you really think they need a manager right at this point?
They don’t need someone doing the work for them. They just
want someone to be there, to guide them, to support them and, most, most, most
importantly, to let them know that it’s OK to believe.
After all, you may be the only one who’s telling them that.
That’s why you are a Leader.
